Give us this day...

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name...

If you are a Christian or are at all familiar with Christianity then there is a good chance that you might know, or know of, what we call the model prayer or the Lord's prayer.

I recently started working for Uber and my first day... I was nervous. Not because of the types of people I was picking up or anything like that but because I didn't know if this would be worth it or not. Uber has a small center display button which shows your daily earnings (not visible when you are on a trip with a client) but this little feature does a few things, in addition to allowing me to see how much I have earned, it also helps remind me to pray and ask God to send more clients my way.

I now find myself thanking God for each client and/or food delivery I make and pray for more throughout the day so that I can reach the daily goal I have set.

When reciting the Lord's prayer, I really took notice to the phrase:

"...and give us this day, our daily bread..."

This has taken on a whole new understanding for me. Now, I truly rely on God to send work my way so I can provide for my family. Unlike the days of old where most people only needed money to buy food, clothing and animals... maybe some tools.... today we have automobiles, insurance, food, mortgage, student loans, personal loans, clothing, entertainment, private school, gymnastics... etcetera.

All too often we are used to going to work and earning a paycheck each and every week or two and we don't stop to think about or thank God for His blessing us with work so we can provide. It is expected that we go to work, earn money and pay bills.

When you are relying solely on God to provide, then the phrase: "give us this day our daily bread..." takes on a whole new meaning.
