Our other family members...

Some of us have cats, dogs, birds or other animals we keep as pets. They provide love and comfort to us, many of them are loyal to us or our families, we play with them, cuddle with them and sometimes we even share our problems with them.

They are more than pets to a lot of us, they are members of our family.

"Last night I went to bed heartbroken. Myst, my cat, has not been well for some time but she was so weak she could hardly walk. She wanted to go under the bed so I helped her as best I could and she laid down, her breathing was shallow. I held one of paws as I cried and she covered my hand with her other paw, it was as if she was still trying to comfort me even as she knew her time was almost over.

I laid beside the bed with her for 2 hours... it was late and I knew I had to get up early so I tearfully said goodbye to my friend of close to 20 years. I have raised her since she was just a kitten.

I hardly slept at all last night, after crying myself to sleep, I woke up sometime early this morning to check on her and found that she has passed away.

I will miss her always coming to greet me when I came home from work each day... the way she would curl up on my lap in the evenings and lay her head on my arm and would sleep with me often during the night or the way she would stand up and beg for some tuna which was her favorite evening meal.

Even now it is a rough day as I will soon have to bury her and I am still crying. She was more than a simple pet, she was family and I will miss her terribly."
